Draft Lottery: 2020

A genius idea -- I believe from MIA Kevin -- was to tie our draft lottery to the results of the NBA's draft lottery. That being the case, when the NBA pulled Minnesota out of the popper, our very own SAS won the 2020-21 RDA lottery! Our bottom three regular season teams, each with an equal 14% chance at the top picks were MIL, PHX, and SAS.

The full RDA lottery draft order (not factoring in any existing picks):
  1. SAS ^
  2. MIL
  3. LAC ^
  4. ATL ^
  5. PHX
  6. MIA
  7. OKC
  8. SAC
  9. BOS
  10. DAL
  11. TOR
  12. DEN
  13. PHI
  14. ORL
^ = Moved up

For the record, our first round is initially ranked in reverse order of regular season standings -- #30 through #1. Then the draft lottery determines picks 1-14 for RD1. For the rest of RD1, the remaining sixteen picks are determined by the previous regular season's standings (in reverse order).

As for RD2, there is no adherence to the lottery, so teams picks based on reverse order of the previous season's standings.

Note, we are introducing a "power" metric - abbreviated to "PWR" in the future -- which is simply all the RDA teams ranked from #1 through #30 based on regular season standings. For example, based on last year's standings, NYK is power ranked #1 while SAS, PHX, and MIL are #28, #29, #30 respectively.
